FAQ's - for those questions most frequently asked
What are the guidelines for participating in ASAP?
ASAP does have an outline of basic policies for participation. When you decide to sign-up, you agree to abide by the policies in the document. You can review those policies by clicking here.
When do you meet?
Club meetings are held regularly on Saturday afternoons from 12pm - 2:00pm.
How much is tuition?
We charge $200 per academic year, per student.
Where do you meet?
We meet at the Horton home located in Weatherford just minutes west of Fort Worth. Our meetings are fairly informal, so come prepared to have a seat on the couch, or pull up a chair.
What should we bring to meetings?
Pen and something to take notes with will be your best friends. As the year progresses, students will be expected to have their own:
- 8.5" x 14" legal size pad
- Something in which to store printed research
- Stack of sticky-notes
Is there a dress code for club?
We ask that young ladies' shorts be knee-length and not tight. (Basketball shorts are absolutely acceptable.) Tops should not demonstrate low-necklines and tank-tops should not be modeled during debate meetings. Gentlemen, your attire will be expected to meet the same requirements. Additionally, baseball caps will be subject to the rules of Southern households. Kindly doff your cap at the door.
Who coaches?
Please click here to view our instructors for the year and their background.
Do you affiliate with a league?
We participate in Stoa, a speech and debate homeschool league. We study their team policy resolution for the year and attend their tournaments. While students are certainly free to explore other leagues, the coaching will be geared specifically towards Stoa competition.
Because our students train with and compete in the Stoa USA homeschool speech and debate league, your family's membership in Stoa is mandatory - please see the following link for membership information.
